Luhrs Boats

The Luhrs Sportfish company has roots dating back to the 1830s when Henry Luhrs came to the United States. Henry eventually owned his own boat, the Sophia R. Luhrs. His grandson carried on the family love by building and repairing boats in New Jersey many years later.  The passion for boats spread and the great grandsons of the original Henry Luhrs soon started building boats with dad. By 1965, the business was flourishing and Bangor Punta bought the company. The Luhr great grandsons started another boating business which eventually became the employee owned Luhrs Sportfish designed and building boats today.

Luhrs specializes in Open and Convertible models. Open model sportfishing boats are available in nine models. These models are the Luhrs 25 Open, 28 Open, 30 Open, 31 Open IPS, 34 Open, 37 OB Canyon Series, 37 IPS Canyon Series, 41 Open and 43 Open. Convertible sportfishing models are available in three designs - 35 Convertible, 37 Convertible and 43 Convertible.

The 25 Open Luhrs sportfishing boat is a new design to be completed and ready for sale in 2011. The smaller design aims to make Luhrs’ sportfishing boats more affordable. The Luhrs 28 Open is a combination sportfishing boat and entertaining boat. With cabin space, galley and seating area there is room for several guests. Above cabin quarters there is seating, rod storage, livewell and washdowns are available for sportfishing. 

The 31 Open IPS offers a Volvo IPS system - a propulsion system. This system increases top speed while making the sportfishing boat more economical. Joystick steering also comes standard to make docking easier.

The Canyon series by Luhrs is offered with an outboard or inboard motor. The outboard model, 37 Open OB can reach 45 MPH with less noise than boats with an inboard motor. The OB model is powered by triple Yamahas. The 37 Open IPS is equipped with the same Volvo system as the 31 Open IPS.

Luhrs sportfishing boats also come in convertible models. Convertible Luhrs sportfishing boats can be equipped with or without hull windshields. The smallest Convertible, the 35, is designed with two staterooms, multiple tackle boxes, livewells and and on optional shaft-drive diesel or the Volvo IPS. The 37 and 43 Convertible Luhrs will be available in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

All Luhr sportfishing boat models come with a choice of engines. Engine manufacturers supported by Luhrs include Yanmar, Cummins, Volvo and Yamaha. Maximum HP is

Luhrs offers various upgrades to base models and highly equipped models. Upgrades, or changes in some cases, include engine variation, windshield options and more. Specifications for every model is available from Luhrs sportfishing boats including overall length, headroom, holding tank, fuel tank, water capacity, maximum HP and sleeping capacity (on select models).
