Boston Whaler Boats

Richard Fisher founded Boston Whaler in 1958 when he built the first 13-foot Whaler model. After the build was complete, Fisher tried to break the boat in half to test the strength and found it was unsinkable. Boston Whaler develops five series of boats - Super Sport, Montauk, Dauntless, Outrage and Conquest. Boston Whaler develops boats for fishing, cruising, overnighting and water sports

The Super Sport series of Boston Whaler fishing boats and family boats range in length from 11‘ to 17‘. The 110 Sport and 110 Tender are two older models that tend to be the most basic and affordable, according to Boston Whaler. The newer models, 130, 150 and 170 come equipped with more advanced standard equipment and can be customized with “off the shelf” accessories.

Montauk by Boston Whaler is a classic fishing boat with low profile sides and spacious decks. There are three models within the series, 150 Montauk, 170 Montauk and 190 Montauk. The three models are basically the same aside from additional space. The 150 Montauk measures 15.5‘ while the 190 Montauk measures 19‘. Boston Whaler Montauk is designed for cruising, watersports and fishing. 

Dauntless is a fishing boat by Boston Whaler with a larger engine for additional speed. The hull design is a bit more streamlined compared to earlier and smaller Boston Whaler models thus increasing the speed. The 180 Dauntless measures 18‘ in length and comes with a few standard fishing features like tackle drawers. Options are available. This boat is designed for watersports, fishing, cruising and family boating. 

Outrage is the first in the Boston Whaler line designed with overnighting in mind. There are seven boats in the series - 190, 220, 250, 280, 320, 320 Cuddy and 370. Numbers are given to the Outrage series based on boat length thus the 190 is the shortest and 370 the longest. All models offer the same general look aside from the 320 Cuddy which offers a Cuddy design. A Cuddy is more for entertaining so the 320 Cuddy combines fishing boat with entertaining and cruising.

Conquest is the second and final Boston Whaler designed for overnighting. The cabin boat design supports long range fishing and chasing big game. Raised deck design increases headroom in the cabin.

Specifications include total length, bean, draft, weight, deadrise at transom, transom angle, bridge clearance, swamped capacity, persons capacity, maximum HP, minimum HP, maximum engine weight, transom height, water capacity, waste capacity and fuel capacity.

Boston Whaler fishing boats and cruising boats can be custom designed and built. Customization can include adding onto the model with optional features or trading out standard features for optional features. Performance stats are also listed for many Boston Whaler fishing boats and cruising boats.          

Boston Whaler has several new models. Their most advertized 2010 boats are the 320 Outrage and the 150 Super Sport which have each won awards. Also, the boats come with unique perks such as specially protected wires and insulated boxes to keep fishermen’s catch cold. Not to mention, their 370 Outrage received unusually excellent reviews with report of the boat being very lightweight for its size. The 37’6” 370 Outrage weighs only 13,500 pounds. Backed by the manufacturers, each new vessel is sold with a ten year transferable warranty. Therefore, a 2005 13 foot sport boat could be purchased for under $10,000, and it would most likely include five more years on its warranty.
