Contender Boats

Contender has been creating sportfishing boats for only 20 years. Despite technological advances, Contender remains a hands on company that uses as many new methods and materials as possible to increase the integrity and function of the Contender sportfishing line. Because Contender hulls and sportfishing boats are hand made, each one is different and unique. Currently, boats are designed, fabricated and assembled in a large production facility to keep up with demand. 

Contender offers 15 different fishing boat models. The smallest in the Contender fishing boat series is the 21 Open. The 21 Open is a center console fishing boat with all the angler fishing boat upgrades of the larger Contender models in a smaller package. The 21 open fishing boat runs on a Yamaha outboard motor. 

The 23 Open offers a little more space for anglers, but also allows the addition of a second outboard motor for additional speed and range. The Contender 23 Tournament is generally the same as the 23 Open but there is a bit of additional storage space and length on the 23T fishing boat. The Contender 25 Open and 25 Sport are the exact same model with slight differences. The sport is developed with a larger fuel tank for extra distance. 

The 27 Tournament and 31 Cuddy are the last of the common fishing boats in the Contender line. Both offer additional storage options, fuel capacity and rod storage over previous smaller models. The 31 Cuddy offers two live wells, self-bailing cockpit and two 76-gallon fish boxes. 

Contender expands the fishing boat line with the 31 Fish Around. Standards on the 31 Fish Around include a complete galley, air conditioning and cruising upgrades for longer fishing trips. The remaining models in the Contender fishing boat line increase in length, add more storage and more angling features but are generally the same model replayed with greater lengths. 

Two unique models of Contender fish boat are the 36 Cuddy and 38 Express. The 36 Cuddy offers an optional 600 gallon fuel tank and comes standard with three Yamaha engines. Together the engines pack 750 HP onto the fishing vessel. The 38 Express is a fishing boat with cruising luxury. This model offers enclosed bathroom, shower, open galley and two staterooms. The 38 Express is the first luxury fishing boat created by Contender and with the added power and longevity on open water, could be used as a cruising boat as well.

Specs include overall length, beam, weight (dry), weight for fishing, draft, hull design, fuel capacity and maximum HP. Options are available on some models like the addition of a second motor and additional fuel capacity. 

When Contender began making fishing boats about twenty years ago, they were well known and respected in Florida. Over the last ten years, they have become well known along the East coast of the United States. All of Contender 92s boat models are categorized into six series : open, tournament, sport, fish around, cuddy, and express. The open series of boats has three models (21 feet, 23 feet and 25 feet). These models come equipped with a walk-in console with head compartment, recessed pop-up bow light and international lighting. The tournament series of boats has four models (23 feet, 27 feet, 31 feet, 33 feet). These models come equipped with forward under-deck rod lockers, a fifty gallon livewell, and a storage space under the console. The sport series has a 25 foot model that comes with a choice of engine packages. The fish around series has two models (31 feet, 36 feet). The 36 foot fish around model comes equipped with a television, DVD player, power generators and a fixed top. The cuddy series has two models (31 feet and 36 feet). The express series has a 38 foot model that includes a 7.3kw gas generator, and spacious cabin area. These boats will appeal to the avid salt-water fisherman.
