Crownline Boats

Crownline may build huge boats today, but the company started in a very small space in Whittington, Illinois. The initial boat off the line was the 182BR in 1991. That boat was finished in March of 1991 and by July, the Crownline company was so productive the small factory was too small to complete production. Crownline them moved to a large facility while a manufacturing facility was built for the company. The new facility took three and a half years to complete. Fred Claxton started the company after working with another boating company as an executive. Currently the company sells bowriders, deck boats, cuddy cabins and cruisers.

Bowriders offer family comfort with bow seating and open space on deck. Crownline produces 15 different bowrider models. Model tags include BR, SS and LS. The smallest in the line is the 180BR and the largest is the 320LS. Model tags are used to describe upgrades or special packages available with each model.

The 180BR is 18‘ long and holds eight passengers. A windshield walk-through area creates an open space between steering console and bow seats. The 185SS offers standard upgrades to a super sport interior. It holds eight passengers and can accommodate speeds needed for watersports. The 195SS is a bit longer at 19‘5“, but still holds a maximum of eight passengers. The SS series also includes the 19SS, 21SS and 23SS.

The LS series of Crownline bowriders does not appear to be far different from other Crownline boats. With a super sport interior package and upgrades, this model can support all watersports. Interior storage space replaces cabin space with enough room to store personal items. Wakeboard and ski storage also comes standard. Crownline offers optional upgrades on all models that can be used when special ordering a Crownline bowrider.

Deckboats by Crownline fall into the EX series. The EX stands for Extreme, according to Crownline. Deckboats are manufactured with FAST Tab hulls to increase speed on the water without affecting maneuverability. Five models of deckboat are available from Crownline - 220EX, 240EX, 252EX, 260EX and 262EX. All boats come standard with cockpit sun bed and flip bucket seats to increase deck space by moving seat out of the way.

Cuddy cabins by Crownline are designed with every element of space utilized for optimal storage. Cabins come standard so the cuddy cabin line is the first to support overnight stays.Cuddy cabins by Crownline are available in three sizes with the smallest being the 236SC and the largest the 286SC. The Crownline cruiser series also come with below deck cabins. The design looks more like a speed boat than a cruiser. Cruisers are available in five models - 325SCR, 260CR, 280CR, 330CR and 350CR.
