Ericson Boats

In 1964, Ericson Yachts was founded. The boating manufacturer is one of the most highly regarded in the sailboat industry, though production was halted in 1990 when Pacific Seacraft acquired the company. Even though new models may not be coming off the production line, Ericson paid attention to the structural details of a sailboat enough that older models retain much of their original value to this day. One of the most popular models was the 1986 Ericson Sloop. This model can be found used selling for nearly $50,000 US. Ericson was known for using teak interiors and tables. Created with a yacht-like feel, the galley was complete with refrigerator, stove and water heater. The 1986 model measured 6’4” to the top of the lower cabin ceiling making this boat one of the roomiest of its time. Ericson boats offer fiberglass hulls and most original engines were diesel, though upgraded motors may run on alternative fuels. Current selling prices for Ericson yachts or sailboats will be determined by the original condition of the boat and any upgrades that may have been added. Boating enthusiasts seem to like Ericson models that have been restored to original quality or kept in original shape for the last 20 years.
