Hunter Boats

Hunter Marine is a subsidiary of the Luhrs Marine Group. Henry Luhrs started the Luhrs boat tradition in the 1800s. Following in his footsteps, Warren Luhrs started building Hunter sailboats in 1973 when he chose to combine his dedication for sailing with his ability to build boats. The first line of Hunter sailboats were aimed at the providing affordable sailboats for even the strictest budget. Hunter sells about 2,000 boats per year. The company carries the same name as British Hunter, but the two are not synonymous.

There are six series in the Hunter sailboat line - Daysailers, Pocket Cruisers, theEDGE Motor Sailer, Midsize Keelboats, Large Cruisers and Center Cockpit. All Hunter sailboat models are designed to be operated by one or two people, making the cruising experience a bit easier for smaller crews or short-family trips.

The Daysailer by Hunter sailboats measures between 14‘ and 22‘. Three models are available in ACP, a flexible unsinkable material and three models in fiberglass. Fiberglass and ACP Daysailers by Hunter are the smallest sailboats in the Hunter line. They are created to accommodate several passengers or crew members though only one person is needed to control the sailboat.

Pocket Cruisers measure between 25‘ and 27‘. The two models, 25 and 27, are created for short or long-term sailing. The 25 sleeps four adults and can easily be sailed by novice users. Both the 25 and 27 comes with a long list of standard options. With the Mariner Package, these sailboats come with Anchor Roller, Compass, Furling Jib, Halyard Bags, Mainsail Cover, Manual Bilge Pump, ST-40 Speed / Depth and Stern Rail Seats. Certain features, like 12-Volt, 40-Quart Cooler, Lewmar Folding Steering Wheel and Stereo are available on the 27 only.

Hunter designed theEDGE Motor Sailer with motor boat enthusiasts in mind. In addition to sailing capabilities, the sailboat can be equipped with a 75HP outboard motor. Measuring 28‘6“, the sailboat is in the small to mid-size range. When equipped with the Mariner Package, options include Bow Roller, Compass with Light, One Burner Stove, Swim Ladder and Tack Tick T100 Knot & Depth.

Midsize Keelboats by Hunter are designed in 31‘, 33‘, 36‘ and 38‘ models. Each come with sleeping quarters, eating area, cabin seating and galley. A covered area at the stern the sailboat covers the steering wheel. The 31‘, 33, and 36‘ are equipped with two staterooms and a minimum capacity of four persons. The 38‘ model sailboat by Hunter can be built with an extra stateroom.

Large Cruisers by Hunter offer state of the art upgrades and increased space for larger sailing group or more time on the water. Available in 39‘, 41‘ Aft Cockpit, 41‘ Deck Salon, 45‘ Deck Salon and 49‘, there is a Hunter Large Cruiser for every type of sailor. The 39‘ comes standard with two staterooms. The remaining models can be configured with two or three staterooms.

Center Cockpit sailboats by Hunter offer the same standard and optional features as other models, but are designed with a center console.
