Sometime after 2001, Logic Marine Inc., based out of Durham, NC, was folded into Triumph. While Logic Marine is no longer a manufacturer, pre-owned center and side consoles in the 17 to 20-foot range can still found at affordable prices. Reputedly tough and long-lasting, various mid-level Logic fishing and skiing boats became popular in the late ‘90s due to their unique hull technology. Logic Marine Corp. won an award in 1998 by engineering the largest entirely roto-molded boat made at that point. Making their own molds and introducing a new material, Roplene, they received the National Society of Professional Engineers 1998 new product award in the small company category. Roplene, a polyethylene resin that’s naturally buoyant and five times stronger than fiberglass, has lead to the boat’s almost mythical reputation as unsinkable. 2001 Logic 17-foot side consoles list for around $9,000 with some overhauls, but similar, stripped-down models can be found for around $6,000. Since Logic 17s came standard with diamond grid non-skid floors, dual forward storage lockers, bimini tops, and built-in fuel tanks, such low prices should guarantee the longevity of the now defunct brand. John Monroe, of Dover, DE, loves his 17-foot Logic center console, stating, “The boat is nimble enough to be a great fishing boat, but durable like a tank. It should last forever.”
