Mark Twain Boats

What we know of Mark Twain Boats is as a result of a lot of investigation, as they went out of business in 1990. The company, based in West Frankfort, Illinois was founded sometime in the 1960’s. Between then and when they stopped trading the company made V and tri-hulled cruisers for the discerning customer. Records show that some time in the late 1960’s, there was a split in the company and a competing company was formed, Tom Sawyer, which went on to make similar boats. Mark Twain splintered and became four different, separate companies, Mariah Boats, Bombardier, Celebrity and Crown Line. All apparently formed by ex- Mark Twain employees and customers. In its time, Mark Twain Boats made cruisers and fishing boats of different sizes and shapes. Some time in its life the design either split or changed from V hull to a tri-hull, which may have caused the initial split. PricingA 1983 Mark Twain 210XL will cost buyers $4,800, while a 1977 Mark Twain 170 will cost around $595. Despite their age, and being out of production for some 20 years, they still have a market eager to buy them. |
