The Portland Pudgy is a dinghy that was created by David Hulbert, who is the Founder and President of Portland Pudgy, Inc. It is easy to tow and multifunctional as a lifeboat, rowboat, motorboat, or even a sailing dinghy. The Portland Pudgy is considered to be a self-contained unit which means all safety gear and most accessories can be stowed away in various storage compartments. The Portland Pudgy can be made to custom fit various needs with an array of color choices and numerous accessories. These accessories include, but are not limited to: tent coverings and canopies, ladders, solar panels, mounts for rods or GPS units, and electrical systems. For those in need of a more rugged dinghy, Portland Pudgy offers a Sportsman’s model that can handle rough terrain and can be used for camping. All models of the Portland Pudgy weigh 128 pounds when dry and are 7 feet, 8 inches long. The outer shell of the Portland Pudgy is durable, not subject to deterioration, and puncture resistant. This is due to the hard polyethylene that also makes the dinghy flexible and buoyant. With a 2 HP motor, the Portland Pudgy is US Coast Guard approved for four people or up to 557 pounds, including gear and people. Prices range from about $2,000 used to $2,600 new for a basic model.
