The man behind Tiara Yachts started out in the Chris Craft boat company. After pulling away from that name, he started his own line of boats called SlickCraft. The boat line was sold to AMF Corporation and founder Leon Slikkers chose to stay with the company in the role of president. After only four years, he recognized the vision of AMF did not match his vision, so he moved on again but this time to create sail boats for S2 Yachts.

As time passed, S2 Yachts became leader in the United States sail boat business. As sail boating became less favorable, the company moved more toward power boats and yachts – thus giving birth to Tiara Yachts. The company was still operated by Slikkers family members with Leon Slikkers as chief executive officer David Slikkers as president – in 1984.

Tiara Yachts produces a Convertible, Tournament, Open and Sovran Series. While all of the Tiara Yacht lines are created with perfection in mind, some buyers have a different idea of perfect so Tiara Yachts offers a tool to create a dream yacht that can be built to specification if desired.

The Convertible Series allows the fishing trip to play out as it may. Whether running for a short trip or staying on the water for several days, the Tiara Yachts Convertible is equipped to sleep guests in below deck living quarters.

The Open Series offers a center console-style design with room under deck for sleeping, bathing and cooking. The Sovran takes things to a whole new level. This line is not created for fishing, but rather for cruising on the water and spending overnight vacations under the stars.

Prices of Tiara Yachts are hard to discern. Used models are available from the 1980s to present. Older models can be purchased for less than $10,000, but only in sports fishing boats. The true yacht style is typically priced between $130,000 and $600,000 used. New prices will depend on the base model and upgrades chosen, but buyers can expect to pay in excess of $600,000 for a large boat full of upgrades.
