Bowrider

Bowriders are boats commonly used for cruising the water and engaging in waterskiing and wakeboarding. This boat gets its name from the extra seating that can be installed on the bow of the boat. The average size is between 17 and 30 feet, with a maximum of six to ten passengers. Protective guardrails are often installed to protect boaters from slips and falls. Bowrider boats typically have bucket style seats for the driver and passenger, while bow seating can be bench style seating against the sides of the bow or individual seats down inside the bow. Many boaters prefer using the broad surface of the bow as a sunbathing area rather than installing seats. The fiberglass construction of bowriders makes them lightweight and easy to maneuver. Typically designed for calmer waters, bowriders offer a low swim deck at the back of the boat for riders to jump off into the water for swimming or skiing. Most models also offer a carpeted storage area for skis and other water sport accessories. Amenities include built in water gauge, stereo systems, lighting units for after-dusk boating, and sun covers. Stern drives or outboard engines power the boats. Cobalt and Stingray are both known for producing quality bowriders. Used models are available for around $45,000, while newer models run well over $100,000.
