A daysailer is small, open sailboat that can be used for racing for sport and for fun, but their primary use is in simple leisurely sailing. The term daysailer is more describing a general style of boat than a specific model. Why any relatively small boat that is powered by sails will fit the bill. However, most people are referring to the streamlined sailing yachts that will comfortably fit around 10 people. Daysailers can come in a large variety of shapes and sizes. All of the specifications will increase or decrease the price. Some daysailers have cuddies, small faux-cabins that will contain sleeping quarters, galley area, and a limited toilette. It appears that used daysailers can be purchased for around $3,000. At this price, one will receive a modest 12-foot vessel with around room for two people and room for supplies without a cuddy or cabin. If one however wishes to have these attributes added to their boat, this will run the prospective buyer around $12,000. One can see that this classification of boat is quite wide and when looking into sailboats, a buyer must have more of a developed idea on what he or she wants in the boat.
