Deck Boats

Deck boats are flat-bottom boats that can be made of various materials such as dual layer plastic compounds, trapping air inside, closed cylinders, boxes, etc. Think of deck boats as being similar to a raft. Deck boats are usually quite wide and not as streamlined as other kinds of boats. Deck boats are most often used as houseboats, or pleasure boats. The average deck boat costs around $20,000. For this amount the deck boat will usually be around 22-feet long, and hold around 12 people, big enough to host an aquatic themed party. They typically are built upon a number, usually two, pontoons which run the length of the boat. The majority of the “deck” part of the boat is primarily above the water line. However, deck boats can be very limited in use as they are not designed to move very quickly nor are they portable over land. Their large size usually inhibits them from being mounted upon a trailer, etc. Yet, deck boats are perfect for having relaxing calm-water outings and there size permits multiple passengers. Deck boats are usually equipped with tent-like structures or similar forms of shelter to provide shade or protection from the elements during your excursion.
