One type of silicone called RTV that stands for Room Temperature Vulcanizing is a single component product that requires no mixing and starts to cure as soon as it is expose. These types of sealants are mostly used with parts that have gaskets on it. The other type is called Anaerobic. This type of sealant comes in a two-compound product that requires mixing before application. These sealants are commonly used when two solid components are fitted together without gaskets. This are also used to seal and lock components such as Hinges, Latches and Locks. This sealant is hardened even without air and exposure. A wide variety of silicone sealant brands are available on the market.

 

Silicone sealants are also normally used in filling gaps on glass surface.
