Apreamare Boats, an Italian shipyard, builds the famous gozzo of Sorrento. The gozzo bears a resemblance to various ancient designs. In fact, a recently found Roman vessel had the same double pointed hull, the gozzo‘s most distinctive characteristic.

Before the 1930s, the original gozzos were work boats. It used sails and oars to get to its location. Once at the fishing spot, stern rowing moved the boat. As of 2002, Apreamare Boats has a new manufacturing facility in the nautical district of Torre Annunziata in Naples. The new facility measures almost 125,000 square meters and contains 100 berths. The company’s output has increased to meet ample customer demand.
